- Voice students: Keyboard of at least 3+ octaves (21 white keys).
How are group ages arranged?
- 5-8 years
- 9-12 years
- 13-17 years
- 18+ up
Is there flexibility?
Yes. Any age arrangement is fine as long as:
- ) All in the group are good with it.
- ) All in the group are concentrating.
- ) All in the group are working well together.
- ) All parents agree with the arrangement.
- ) Those is the group respect each other.
- ) 18+ remain within each other.
If anyone prefers to change an arrangement, please ask the teacher first. If no compatible groups are available, a student should go 1:1 for a while and pay the difference per lesson.
How are 18 and up lessons set up?
An adult student can approve adding more people to their group. They also can approve or disapprove a new student to join based on the first trial lesson. This way harmony always exists among students. Each student in a group will get a new student request such as this before the trial lesson will begin: “A new student who is 22yr old female would like to join your group. Do you approve?” You will answer “Yes” by email or text. The student then has the first lesson to still be approved or disapproved on a trial basis. If the new student is struggling to get along with the others, then the students or teacher can decide if another group may be better, or 1:1 may be best for a while.
Do Parents need to attend lessons?
Parents need to be available at all times during lessons. Parents should be ready and able to help with confusion or help keep attention on tasks. Younger students may require more assistance than older students etc.
When students are able to concentrate, parents can be nearby but please do not distract or interact unless totally necessary.
What is the First Free Lesson?
This is 20min lesson to speak about the lessons process. Some basic assessment is done to help place the student in the right group and make recommendations.
After payment of $180, the first 40-45min 1:1 lesson is scheduled. The student/parent can then choose to stay with 1:1 monthly, or ask to let others join in. The teacher can then fill the slots, or the parent/student can ask friends/family to join in! After more join, the difference is then credited/calculated into the next month’s payment (on a per lesson basis). For example, if 2 join in during the first month, 3:1 rates create a credit $20 per lesson going into the next month. Please ask the teacher for details!
If any groups are currently allowing students, first payment would only be $140 (2:1) or $100 (3:1).
What is the First Tryout Lesson?
After payment to start out, a first Tryout lesson can be done with an existing group. The students and parents (and teacher) in that existing group have the final say to agree the Tryout student may remain. This way groups are always in harmony, flowing well together the same as an orchestra.
If the student would rather go to another group, or students in a group prefer the Tryout student seek another group for whatever reason, the Tryout student may then try another group the next week.
One Tryout lesson per week please!
Also the teacher may offer 1:1 for a while (at $180 month) until another group opens.
If students in a group approve of the Tryout student (parents and teacher agree), the new monthly rate is credited on per lesson basis from 2:1 to 3:1 etc. Please ask the teacher for details!
Who decides what group a student should be with?
The Teacher at first. After the first tryout lesson with a new group, students in that group can approve the new student or not. This keeps flow and concentration at its maximum for optimal learning of everyone.
Those not concentrating, distracting, sloppy, de-motivating toward others may be asked by the teacher to go 1:1 lessons for a while until they are able to keep the flow! Thank you.
How do I know another person wants to join my lesson group?
You will be sent a text or email that another student would like to join the group. You can decide to say “yes” or “no”. An example notification sent to you by text or email is as follows: “You have a request for 15yr male to join your lessons. Do you accept?” You may reply “Yes” or “No”. If you do not reply within 24hrs, it is automatically considered “No”. Another group lesson will be sought by the student instead.
Can groups get larger than 3 students?
This is up to the teacher. If the process does not hinder concentration, then it may be possible. For example, there are 3 siblings in one group. They invite their neighbor and so now it is 4 in the group. This flexibility is possible based on the situation in other words. Yes, a new rate of $80 each per month will begin the next month.
Can a student request a room change?
Yes! Please ask the teacher to change groups after others are logged out of the lesson. Thank you!
What if I am late to the group lesson?
Join in when you are able anytime during the 40min session.
What if I miss a lesson?
You must give a 24hr notice if you cannot attend a lesson. We apologize but there are no refunds or reschedules without a notice.
How do makeup lessons work?
Makeup lessons are possible with 24hr notice. Makeups are done as a 1:1 lesson for that week only. The 1:1 rate of $45 will apply for that lesson only. Please add the extra amount to the next month’s payment. Thank you. If you are unable to arrange a time for that week, then the lesson will go to a credit. If there are 5 weeks in a month coming up, credit the 5th week and pay for just 4 lessons.
What about 5 week months?
Monthly rates are on a per lesson basis: $45 1:1, $37 2:1, $25 3:1. Please add the extra amount for the 5th lesson that month, or ask the teacher what the amount would be.
Can an entire lesson group change their time?
Yes! Depending on availability of the schedule. Then other activities and sports can be enjoyed by everyone!
How to I get my kid to practice?
Ask a friend to join the group for more fun? At home, reduce distractions or noise, tune then piano, stop dogs barking etc to make practice more inviting. Move the piano to a room that allows for concentration similar to a library? Put the dogs or kittens in other rooms, outside? Turn off the TV or use headphones, remove the video game console from view etc.? Offer incentives if they start improving: Swimming at friends house on Saturday, baking cookies, letting friends over, extra video game time, camping at the end of the summer etc.? Be creative! Have fun!
Perhaps another group may help? Perhaps 1:1 would help?
What is the bonus for enrolling a friend?
Your monthly rate will go down to $140 (2:1) instead of $180 (1:1) per month etc. You also get a FREE lesson credit for any 5 week month! So if a month coming up has 5 Wednesday’s, you would only pay for 4!
What if I would like to stop lessons?
Any missed lessons are credited if you would like to return and attend lessons. There are no refunds. This is because slots during the month are filled and calculated into the month’s schedule (including reserving the slot two months out) upon payment. For this reason, please give a 30 notice to stop lessons. This way all confusion on the issue can be avoided. Thank you!
If someone leaves a group, then students/parents should seek other students to fill that spot, or pay the difference from 3:1 to 2:1 for the following month’s payment.
